Romanian-born, Ibiza-tested. MAHONY grew up on hip-hop and found his voice in the minimal underground. He learned the room as a resident at Bucharest's Kristal Club and the beach as a Sunwaves resident, then took that groove to Hï, Pacha, DC10, Space Miami and Solid Grooves. In 2022 he started Take Notes: a label and a crew for club music done properly.

Kristal Club, Bucharest: opened in autumn 2003 inside a former cinema.

Kristal Club · Bucharest · autumn 2003

It started in a cinema.

Kristal opened inside a former picture house, and that is where MAHONY learned the room: first from the floor, then from the booth as a resident, sharing nights with Pan-Pot, The Martinez Brothers, Seth Troxler, Dubfire, Carl Cox, John Digweed and Loco Dice.

Then the beach.

A full season as resident at Kudos Beach Club in Mamaia got him signed at Kristal. Sunwaves made him one of its residents: the tent on the sand, the set that ends when the sun is already up.

The rhyme book

Hip-hop first.

He grew up on hip-hop and underground rap, and the swing never left: chopped vocals, a head-nod pocket, rhymes turned into grooves at 128.
